The invention relates to a sliding door system (100) for installation into a building wall (102). The sliding door system (100) includes: a first wall member (104) having a first door opening (106); a first wall part (104) having a first door opening (106), a second wall part (108) having a second door opening (110), the first wall part (104) and the second wall part (108) being arranged opposite one another such that the first door opening (106) is opposite the second door opening (110) and the first wall part (104) is spaced apart from the second wall part (108) by a recess (112); a first door leaf (114) for closing the first door opening (106); a second door leaf (116) for closing the second door opening (110); a door leaf carrier (118) which can be moved along the recess (112) by means of a linear guide (120) and on which the first door leaf (114) and the second door leaf (116) are pivotally mounted by means of a pivot mechanism (124); and a coupling device (126) for converting a pushing movement of the door leaf carrier (118) into a rotational movement for actuating the pivot mechanism (124) such that the first door leaf (114) and the second door leaf (116) pivot relative to the door leaf carrier (118), the coupling device (126) comprising a chute member (144) and a control lever (148), the pivot mechanism (124) is arranged on the first wall part (104) and/or on the second wall part (108), the sliding chute component (144) is provided with a sliding chute (146) capable of forming a desired correlation between a pushing movement and a rotating movement, the control rod is used for connecting the sliding chute (146) with the pivot mechanism (124), and the sliding chute component (144) is assembled on the first wall part (104) and/or on the second wall part (108).
