The invention provides a self-sinking guide rail type supporting device and method for a foundation pit. The self-sinking guide rail type supporting device for the foundation pit comprises supporting piles, supporting plates, guide rails and enclosing purlins. The multiple supporting piles and the multiple supporting plates are alternately connected to form a supporting structure with the rectangular cross section. The guide rail and the enclosing purlin are arranged on the inner side of the supporting structure; the enclosing purlin is of a rectangular frame structure, and the outer side of the enclosing purlin is in lap joint with the inner side of the supporting structure. A guide rail web and a guide rail wing are arranged on the guide rail, and the guide rail web is fixedly connected with the supporting pile; and the guide rail wings are connected with the enclosing purlins through pins. The multiple supporting piles and the multiple supporting plates are alternately connected into the supporting structure according to the size of a foundation pit, the supporting structure is inserted into the foundation pit, and then the guide rails and the surrounding purlins are placed into the foundation pit and installed on the supporting structure, so that the problem that the requirements for the site width and the vertical clearance are high when the foundation pit is supported is solved.
