The invention discloses a tuned viscous mass damper and a building structure provided with the same, and relates to the technical field of building damping, the tuned viscous mass damper comprises a first rod-shaped part, a second rod-shaped part and a flywheel, and a matched motion conversion mechanism is arranged between the second rod-shaped part and the flywheel; the motion conversion mechanism comprises a motion constraint structure which is arranged on the second rod-shaped part and can form a first spiral path or a second spiral path and a force transmission part arranged on the flywheel, and a driving mechanism matched with the first rod-shaped part and the second rod-shaped part is arranged between the first rod-shaped part and the second rod-shaped part. The driving mechanism is configured to drive the motion constraint structure to be switched to the first spiral path or the second spiral path when the first rod-shaped component switches the axial motion direction, so that the second rod-shaped component drives the flywheel to rotate in the same direction in the process of reciprocating motion in the axial direction. The reliability of the tuned viscous mass damper can be improved, the use cost of the tuned viscous mass damper can be reduced, and meanwhile the flywheel can move more smoothly.
