The invention provides a periclase-spinel and hollow sphere composite brick and a preparation method thereof.The periclase-spinel and hollow sphere composite brick comprises a refractory layer and a heat insulation layer which are arranged in a stacked mode, and the refractory layer is prepared from, by mass, 76%-85% of fused magnesite, 14%-22% of magnesium aluminate spinel, 0.3%-2% of ZrB2 micro powder, 0.3%-2% of silicon carbide micro powder, 0.3%-2% of silicon carbide micro powder and 0.3%-2% of silicon carbide micro powder; a first binding agent accounting for 3-8% of the total mass of the components is added; the heat insulation layer is prepared from, by mass, 62%-75% of magnesium aluminate spinel hollow balls, 23%-36% of magnesium aluminate spinel powder, 1%-3% of ZrO2 powder, 0.3%-0.8% of CaO powder and a second binding agent accounting for 3%-8% of the total mass of the components. According to the periclase-spinel and hollow sphere composite brick, the high-temperature strength of the combined part of the refractory layer and the heat-insulating layer is high, and the high-temperature strength of the heat-insulating layer is high.
