The invention is applicable to the field of building construction, and provides a cofferdam construction method based on steel sheet piles, and the construction method comprises the following steps: arranging a first cross brace between the steel sheet piles at two ends of a cofferdam, so that an excavator avoids the first cross brace to clean a space above a preset base in the cofferdam; laying a bottom sealing layer on the preset substrate; a water-resisting layer and a culvert bottom layer are laid on the bottom sealing layer; the water-resisting layer is adjacent to the steel sheet pile; the culvert bottom layer is adjacent to the water-resisting layer; and the first transverse support is dismantled, and the culvert is built with the culvert bottom layer as the foundation. In the application, the strength of the bottom of the culvert and the strength of the steel sheet piles are fully utilized to jointly support the load, inner support materials are saved, support conversion steps are reduced, and the construction period is shortened.
