The invention belongs to the field of sound absorption materials, and particularly relates to a silencing structure for a building, which comprises a metamaterial sound absorber and a porous material layer, the porous material layer is attached to the surface of the metamaterial sound absorber; the metamaterial sound absorber is formed by splicing a plurality of sound absorber units in parallel, each sound absorber unit is provided with an open pore on one side of the porous material layer, and the sound absorber unit is attached to the porous material layer to form a closed cavity with the interior communicated with the open pore; the sound absorption frequency of the metamaterial sound absorber ranges from 300 Hz to 1200 Hz. Full-frequency-band sound absorption is achieved through coupling of the two materials, and the sound absorption frequency band finally used for a silencing structure of a building ranges from 300 Hz to 10000 Hz.
