The invention discloses a closestool control system and method based on gesture recognition, and the system comprises an electric field induction module which is used for transmitting an electric field signal and receiving the electric field signal which changes in response to the gesture of a user; the gesture recognition module is used for recognizing the gesture of the user according to the changed electric field signal received by the electric field sensing module and outputting a control command corresponding to the recognized gesture according to a preset corresponding relationship between a plurality of gestures and a plurality of control commands; the control module is used for controlling the closestool to execute a corresponding function according to the received control command. According to the invention, more gesture recognition operations can be provided, non-contact operations of most functions of the intelligent closestool can be realized, and the user experience is improved.
