The invention provides a light facing material and a preparation method thereof. The light facing material is prepared from water, hollow sphere colloidal silicon dioxide, a thickening agent, rubber powder, Portland cement, heavy calcium carbonate, vitrified micro bubbles, a water reducing agent, lithium carbonate, anti-crack fibers and polyphenyl granules in certain parts by weight through stirring, mold stripping and curing. After the prepared light facing material is poured into a mold and maintained for 48 hours, the compressive strength is larger than 30 MPa, and the density is smaller than 600 kg/m < 3 >; the light facing material can be manufactured into a concrete plate with light weight, high strength, heat preservation and sound insulation through a mold with a corresponding size, and the concrete plate is widely applied to surface decoration of an inner wall body and the ground.
