The invention relates to the technical field of water pumping energy storage, in particular to an underground space combined water pumping energy storage system which comprises a first horizontal well and a second horizontal well which have height difference, a first gate is arranged at one closed end of the first horizontal well, the first horizontal well is located above the second horizontal well, and a second gate is arranged at the other closed end of the first horizontal well. A vertical hoistway is arranged between the first horizontal hoistway and the second horizontal hoistway, the top of the vertical hoistway is located between the first gate and the closed end of the first horizontal hoistway, the first horizontal hoistway located underground is used for storing water, too fast water loss caused by ground surface high temperature is avoided, water can be better saved, and meanwhile in the water pumping and energy storage process, the water pumping and energy storage efficiency is improved. Water flow can store energy at the first hydraulic turbine set and the second hydraulic turbine set, the energy storage capacity can be greatly improved, the inclined well, the first horizontal well, the vertical well and the second horizontal well are combined, the pumped energy storage water flow only circularly flows underground, and pollution from the ground is effectively avoided.
