The invention relates to a construction method for updating and transforming a roof of a large-span old factory building. The construction method comprises the following steps: removing large-span roof tiles, a waterproof layer and a wooden roof boarding by using a hanging basket of a crane; the roof truss is dismantled through a crane, and the roof truss is lowered to a ground platform; dismantling roof panels by using a crane; the roof truss is reinforced on the ground; roof truss web members are used as supports, and an overhanging platform is installed on the roof truss; hoisting the roof truss by using a crane, and mounting the reinforced roof truss to an original position; constructing roof purlines, wooden roofing boards, waterproof layers and roof boards by constructors through the cantilever platform; and after roof updating construction is completed, the cantilever platform is dismantled. The overhanging type operation platform is adopted, and the number of erecting and disassembling of the all-round scaffold can be greatly reduced. During roof engineering construction, repair engineering construction of indoor walls and the like can be arranged, so that the construction period is greatly shortened, and the construction cost is reduced. The safety of constructors can be effectively guaranteed, and the installation speed and the construction quality can be improved.
