Floating offshore oil storage platform with vertical caisson
The present patent invention is a floating offshore oil storage platform with a vertical caisson, having a larger diameter vertically oriented buoyancy column or caisson, and a telescopic keel box disposed at its bottom end, and may have a deck at the top of the caisson to support storage, drilling and production structures, equipment and dormitories. The platform can be horizontally transported on a transport ship and can also be dragged under the condition that the keel box is in a complete retraction position. At the operating site, the platform initially floats horizontally. The keel box is extended and then slowly immersed in water to move the center of gravity of the structure toward the keel box, the structure is vertically inclined for a heavier box to assume a vertical operating position, the telescopic keel box extends downward relative to the caisson, after which the relative position of the keel box is adjusted to rise or fall relative to its buoyancy center when the storage chamber is filled with fluid, the center of gravity of the entire mass of the platform structure and maintaining the center of gravity of the structure below its center of buoyancy, and stabilizes the platform structure vertically at a desired draft according to ballast and fixed loads and compensates for different operational installation phases of the platform structure.
