The invention discloses a thin film covering device for a concrete pier column. The device comprises an anti-overturning device, a retracting and releasing device, a reversing device and a roller device. The retractable device comprises a base and a telescopic rod, the bottom of the telescopic rod is connected with the base, and the upper end of the telescopic rod can extend to the upper portion of the top face of the concrete pier column. The reversing device comprises a force bearing rod, a pulley fixedly arranged on the force bearing rod in a sleeving mode, a reversing gear box and a guide rod arranged below the reversing gear box. The roller device is of a columnar structure with the surface covered with multiple layers of films, and the side face of the roller device is tightly attached to the concrete pier column. The invention further discloses a corresponding film covering method. The device has the advantages of quick assembly and disassembly, convenience in turnover and wide application range; the problems that in the traditional manual film covering process, the film covering quality is poor, the film covering difficulty is large, and potential hazards exist in occupational health and safety of construction workers are effectively solved.
