The trash holding device comprises a trash holding belt which is vertically arranged, the trash holding belt is used for being obliquely arranged on a river channel, the trash holding belt comprises two strip-shaped mounting shells which are oppositely arranged up and down and a net chain conveying belt connected between the two strip-shaped mounting shells, and a driving shaft and a driven shaft are rotationally connected between the two ends of the two strip-shaped mounting shells correspondingly; a vortex pool is arranged at the lower end of the driving shaft, a water inlet channel extending into a river channel is arranged at the upper end of the vortex pool, a water outlet channel extending into the river channel is arranged at the lower end of the vortex pool, and a driving turbine extending into the vortex pool is arranged at the lower end of the driving shaft. A plurality of trash holding scraping strips which are distributed in the length direction of the net chain conveying belt and obliquely face the direction of the driving shaft are arranged on the outer side of the net chain conveying belt, a plurality of trash holding scraping teeth are outwards arranged on the free edge of each trash holding scraping strip, and a net hole trash collecting platform is arranged at the end, close to the vortex pool, of the net chain conveying belt. Garbage in the riverway can be quickly intercepted and cleaned out of the riverway, and manpower and material resources for riverway decontamination are effectively saved.
