The invention discloses a potential energy recovery system for single auxiliary movable arm oil cylinders of an excavator. The potential energy recovery system comprises an oil tank, a hydraulic pump, a main control valve group, two main control oil cylinders, an auxiliary oil cylinder and an energy storage device, the oil tank communicates with the hydraulic pump; the hydraulic pump is communicated with rod cavities and rodless cavities of the two main control oil cylinders through the main control valve group; the hydraulic pump is further communicated with a rod cavity and a rodless cavity of the auxiliary oil cylinder through the main control valve set. The energy storage device is communicated with a rodless cavity of the auxiliary oil cylinder; when a movable arm of the excavator descends, hydraulic oil in a rodless cavity of the auxiliary oil cylinder flows into the energy storage device for energy storage; when a movable arm of the excavator ascends, hydraulic oil of the energy storage device flows into a rodless cavity of the auxiliary oil cylinder under the pushing of high-pressure gas to push a cylinder rod of the auxiliary oil cylinder to ascend to release energy.
