The invention provides an ecological base material and a preparation method thereof, the ecological base material comprises super absorbent resin, and the super absorbent resin absorbs a large amount of water through hydrophilic groups so as to swell and keep the water from flowing out; polyacrylamide is used as a linear high-molecular polymer to increase the cohesive force among soil particles; monopotassium phosphate is used as a pH regulator to provide a weak acid environment and provide trace elements for plants; glucose is used as a carbon source for plant growth; the moss bacterial powder is used for propagating low-grade plant communities to improve soil quality; 6-8 parts by mass of herbaceous and shrub seeds which are prepared from different types of plants in proportion to form a slope protection community; peat is used as humus soil rich in organic matters to provide basic nutrient substances for plant growth; the wood fibers are used for improving the coupling capacity between soil bodies and enhancing the overall stability; the water and the native soil are used for proportioning the ecological base material, providing partial cohesive force and water absorption capacity, and providing a native environment for plant growth.
