The invention discloses a square steel pipe column splicing joint of a box type frame steel column and a construction method of the square steel pipe column splicing joint. The square steel pipe column splicing joint comprises a first square steel pipe column, a second square steel pipe column and a plurality of angle-shaped connecting pieces. An inner steel pipe is arranged in the second square steel pipe column; the other end of the inner steel pipe extends into the first square steel pipe column; the end, located in the first square steel pipe column, of the inner steel pipe is provided with an inner steel pipe end sealing plate and a conical block. A first internal annular stiffening rib is arranged in the first square steel pipe column and corresponds to the side surface of the conical block; the first internal annular stiffening rib is in an annular plate shape, and an inner hole is a conical hole matched with the side face of the conical block. During construction, the first square steel pipe column, the second square steel pipe column and the angular connecting piece are prefabricated in a factory; when the first square steel pipe column and the second square steel pipe column are in place on site, the butt joint is planed and tightly jacked; and finally, all the angle-shaped connecting pieces are fixed through one-way bolts. The method is easy to operate, quality is guaranteed, welding operation on a construction site can be effectively reduced, fire operation is reduced, and engineering safety is guaranteed.
