The invention relates to a method for laying a wicking geotechnical cloth, which comprises the following steps: in the construction process of a new roadbed, the wicking geotechnical cloth is partially laid in the roadbed, the wicking geotechnical cloth is provided with a protection device, the protection device comprises a protection pipe, and the protection pipe is connected with a rotating shaft through a rotating assembly to realize the rotation of the rotating shaft around the axis of the rotating shaft; the wicking geotechnical cloth extends into the protection pipe and is wound and connected on the rotating shaft, then the movable end of the wicking geotechnical cloth extends out of the protection pipe, the rotation of the rotating shaft can drive the wicking geotechnical cloth to be wound and released, and the part, used for being laid on the side slope, of the wicking geotechnical cloth is wound into the protection pipe through the rotating shaft in the construction process of a newly-built roadbed; after the side slope of the newly-built roadbed is treated and constructed, the wicking geotextile is released through rotation of the rotating shaft, so that the wicking geotextile is unfolded and flatly laid on the side slope, and then the wicking geotextile is fixed on the side slope, the laying method avoids damage to the wicking geotextile during side slope treatment and construction, and the function of the wicking geotextile is guaranteed.
