The invention relates to a friction type damping device for connecting and separating main beams, which is mounted between two adjacent separating type steel box beams and comprises a movable steel pressing plate, a fixed steel pressing plate, a friction plate, a first connecting steel plate and a second connecting steel plate, and the first connecting steel plate and the second connecting steel plate are mounted on the two separating type steel box beams respectively. One end of the movable steel pressing plate is rotatably connected with the first connecting steel plate, one end of the fixed steel pressing plate is fixedly connected with the second connecting steel plate, the ends, close to each other, of the movable steel pressing plate and the fixed steel pressing plate coincide with each other, and the friction plate is located at the coincidence position of the movable steel pressing plate and the fixed steel pressing plate. The movable steel pressing plate, the fixed steel pressing plate and the friction plate are connected with one another through prepressing bolts. Compared with the prior art, the device can play a role when the steel box girders move in the vertical direction and the transverse direction, the movable steel pressing plate and the fixed steel pressing plate which are connected between the two separated steel box girders generate dislocation, the friction plates between the movable steel pressing plate and the fixed steel pressing plate are rubbed, and vortex-induced vibration of the separated steel box girders is effectively reduced.
