The invention provides a ruins top surface protection method, and relates to the technical field of ancient ruins protection.The method comprises the steps that original covering soil on the ruins top surface with building diseases is stripped and stored; laying a protective layer on the top surface of the ruins after the building diseases are repaired; wherein the protective layer comprises at least one of a modified soil layer, a root blocking layer and a sacrificial layer; and laying the original covering soil on the protective layer. According to the method, after the building diseases are repaired, the protective layer is laid on the top face of the ruins, new building diseases on the top face of the ruins can be avoided, the original covering soil is laid on the protective layer, and local plants and local plant seeds in the original covering soil can absorb the growth matrix to form the vegetation protective layer; the protective layer on the top surface of the ruin is isolated from an open environment with the characteristics of strong wind, strong illumination, strong evaporation and the like, the protective layer on the top surface of the ruin is prevented from being eroded and dissipated, and the service life of the protective layer on the top surface of the ruin is prolonged.
