The invention belongs to the technical field of production of steelmaking lime from limestone, and particularly relates to a process and a system for preparing high-grade limestone powder from low-grade limestone, and the method for preparing the high-grade limestone powder from the low-grade limestone comprises the following steps: step 1, crushing the low-grade limestone; the particle size of the crushed limestone particles is 10-100 mm; 2, the limestone particles obtained in the step 1 pass through a component analyzer, the limestone particles meeting the set conditions of the component analyzer serve as coarse screening high-grade limestone to be homogenized and ground, and ground coarse screening high-grade limestone powder is obtained; and 3, sorting the coarse-screened high-grade limestone powder obtained in the step 2. The invention provides a process and a system for preparing high-grade limestone powder by using low-grade limestone, which can be used for producing steelmaking lime by calcining limestone which cannot meet the requirements originally.
