The invention provides a method for producing a moonlight metal tile by using red mud and the moonlight metal tile, and belongs to the technical field of comprehensive utilization of solid waste residues. The red mud is used as a main raw material, and iron oxide in the red mud is reduced to generate elemental iron by adopting a reduction calcination process; the elemental iron is carbonized to form silver gray iron carbide which is not easily oxidized again by using excessive reducing agent carbon, so that the product is endowed with silver gray, the product can reflect silver light under moonlight and then becomes a high-quality material for various pseudo-classic buildings, and the effects of harmlessly treating the red mud slag and increasing economic benefits are achieved; the problem that existing red mud cannot be utilized harmlessly with high added value all the time is solved, and the problem that in the prior art, when an antique building material-moonlight metal tile is produced, the requirement for the content of aluminum and iron in raw materials is harsh is solved.
