The present invention relates generally to the field of filler particles for artificial turf. More specifically, the present invention relates to a filling particle for artificial turf wherein the particle comprises a base material impregnated with a salt and the particle is free of thermoplastic material wherein the base material comprises cellulosic and/or hemicellulosic material wherein the particle has a volume of up to about 512 mm3 wherein the particle has a salt content of at least 5 wt.%, and wherein the particle is free of thermoplastic material. And wherein the salt is dispersed throughout the particle. The invention also relates to a method for producing the filler particles according to the invention and to an artificial turf system comprising these particles.

Artificial turf filler particles, method for producing filler particles and use of filler particles
The present invention relates generally to the field of filler particles for artificial turf. More specifically, the present invention relates to a filling particle for artificial turf wherein the particle comprises a base material impregnated with a salt and the particle is free of thermoplastic material wherein the base material comprises cellulosic and/or hemicellulosic material wherein the particle has a volume of up to about 512 mm3 wherein the particle has a salt content of at least 5 wt.%, and wherein the particle is free of thermoplastic material. And wherein the salt is dispersed throughout the particle. The invention also relates to a method for producing the filler particles according to the invention and to an artificial turf system comprising these particles.
