    A vehicle latch includes only a single motor that performs a release/rearward drive function of the vehicle latch, and a powered locking/unlocking function of the vehicle latch, and a mechanical locking/unlocking feature for locking and unlocking the latch in the event of a power failure of the vehicle latch.
