A pump system (1) for use in a drill bore, the pump system comprising a pumping chamber (5) having a piston (4) configured to reciprocate in a direction substantially perpendicular to a drill bore axis. A renewable energy source can be used to drive the movement of the piston (4) using a motor (3) located within the drill bore.
