The invention discloses a small charging door with a foldable opening cover and an opening method thereof.The small charging door comprises a base fixed between a vehicle door inner metal plate and a vehicle door outer metal plate and a charging plug module arranged in the base, a charging opening is formed in the position, on the vehicle door outer metal plate, of the base, a sealing element is arranged on the charging opening, and the opening cover is arranged on the sealing element. A driving assembly is connected to the sealing element, the sealing element comprises a face part which is spread or folded on the working surface where the charging opening is located and a transmission part which receives an actuating force of the driving assembly, the transmission part is actuated to move to one side of the charging plug-in module, and the face part is folded along the working surface. A charging plug-in module is exposed on the charging opening; or the transmission part moves towards the charging plug-in module to the end part of the charging opening, and the face part is spread along the working surface and shields the charging opening.
