The invention relates to a retractable transport container (1) convertible between a reduced configuration with a reduced height and an erected configuration, the container (1) comprising a top section (3) and a bottom section (2) wherein the container bottom section (2) comprises a rigid floor (4) with four corner fittings (5), and the container top section (3) comprises a rigid top plate (6) with four corner fittings (7) wherein the container (1) comprises four corner posts, each extending between a top corner fitting (7) and a bottom corner fitting (5) and comprising a top element rigidly connected to the top plate (6) and a bottom element rigidly connected to the bottom plate (4), each corner post has a retractable/extendable configuration. The container (1) is characterized in that the container (1) comprises a front end panel (12) having at least one hinged door leaf (41), where the door leaf (41) comprises a top section (42) pivotably connected to a top element of an adjacent corner post, a bottom section (43) pivotably connected to a bottom element of an adjacent corner post, and an intermediate section (44) telescopically engaged with the top section (42) of the door leaf (41) and the bottom section (43) of the door leaf (41), wherein the intermediate section (44) interconnects the top section (42) and the bottom section (43).
