The invention provides a swimming pool robot edge cleaning method which comprises the steps that when a swimming pool robot executes an edge cleaning task, the distance between the swimming pool robot and the pool wall of a swimming pool is determined through a distance detection sensor; whether the distance between the swimming pool robot and the swimming pool wall is matched with the target edge distance or not is determined, when the distance between the swimming pool robot and the swimming pool wall is not matched with the target edge distance, the robot is controlled to rotate by a preset angle in the direction of the swimming pool wall, and the swimming pool robot is driven to move forwards; whether the guiding device abuts against the swimming pool wall or not is determined, and when the guiding device abuts against the swimming pool wall, the swimming pool robot is driven to move forwards through sliding friction force generated by the guiding device and the swimming pool wall till the distance between the swimming pool robot and the swimming pool wall is matched with the target edge distance. In this way, the wall-following cleaning work of the swimming pool robot not only improves the cleaning efficiency, but also improves the effect of the cleaning result, and effectively solves the problem when the swimming pool robot cleans narrow contours, such as areas along the wall line of the swimming pool and the like.
