Silyl-functionalized cellulosic rheology modifiers for silanes in building applications
The present invention provides a thickened hydrolysable organosilane, such as an alkoxyalkylsilane composition comprising an alkylsilyl group-containing cellulose thickener, such as a trialkylsilyl cellulose, having a weight average molecular weight of from 60 kDa to 5000 kDa. The composition may include a purely hydrolyzable organosilane and from 0.1% to 5% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition, of an alkylsilyl group-containing cellulose. The composition has a viscosity similar to that of a paint or coating composition and is suitable for use as a treatment or coating composition that imparts water resistance to a cementitious substrate.
