The invention belongs to the technical field of power generation equipment, and particularly relates to a vertical water turbine suitable for tidal power generation, the vertical water turbine comprises a support and an impeller mechanism, the impeller mechanism comprises a center shaft, blades and an angle adjusting mechanism, and the angle adjusting mechanism is used for adjusting the expansion and contraction states of the blades on the impeller mechanism; the blades drive the central shaft to rotate under the pushing of water flow; and when water flow flows to the water turbine from different directions of the support, at least one impeller mechanism can be pushed to work normally, and the power generation function is achieved. The vertical water turbine is high in universality; the device not only can be used in rivers or canals with fixed water flow directions, but also can be used in water areas such as lakes, oceans and the like in which tide and ocean current phenomena occur and the water flow directions change periodically; according to the water turbine, the center shafts of the two impeller mechanisms can be arranged to be closer, so that the overall structure of the water turbine is more compact, the size is relatively smaller, and the material cost is further saved.
