The invention discloses an efficient suspension cable layout optimization method and system for suspension bridges with different sags, and the method comprises the steps: obtaining suspension cable information, the suspension cable information comprises the load of each suspension cable, the angle of each suspension cable, the length of each suspension cable, the distance between each suspension cable and the starting point of the bridge, the elastic modulus of each suspension cable and the weight of each suspension cable; setting a suspension cable stress index evaluation model, calculating a total stress index of the suspension cable according to the suspension cable information, and minimizing the suspension cable stress index evaluation model to obtain a final total stress index of the suspension cable; and optimizing the suspension cable layout according to the suspension cable information corresponding to the final total stress index of the suspension cable.
