The invention discloses a vehicle passing system and method for a four-branch roundabout, and belongs to the field of traffic engineering. The problems that an existing multi-lane four-branch roundabout is large in number of conflict points, complex in driving task and low in passing efficiency are mainly solved. The center area of the roundabout is quadrilateral, each edge of the quadrilateral is a curve edge, one direction inner ring lane and one direction outer ring lane are sequentially arranged outside each curve edge from inside to outside, and the driving direction of vehicles in the center area of the roundabout is anticlockwise; each group of direction roads drives to other direction roads along the corresponding direction inner ring lane and the corresponding direction outer ring lane, the purposes of increasing the traffic capacity and improving the passing efficiency are achieved by optimizing the driving paths of the vehicles, meanwhile, signal lamps are additionally arranged at the roundabout, coordination control is carried out on the vehicles inside and outside the roundabout, and the traffic safety of the roundabout is improved. In addition, the design also considers the crossing safety of pedestrians and non-motor vehicles, and special passage channels and passage time are increased.
