The present invention provides a surface treatment method for smoothing the surface of a ceramic thermal spray coating film and a ceramic thermal spray coating film subjected to surface smoothing treatment. A surface treatment method for a ceramic thermal spray coating film, characterized in that a slurry is sprayed onto the surface of the ceramic thermal spray coating film at a pressure of 0.01-1.0 MPa using a compressed gas, and the surface of the ceramic thermal spray coating film is smoothed. The slurry contains a liquid having a viscosity of 10 mPa/s or less at a temperature of 20 DEG C and a powder medium having a polyhedral shape and a median diameter (D50) of 1-50 [mu] m, the content of the powder medium being 1-50 vol%.
