The invention discloses a method for supporting a foundation pit close to an existing building. The method comprises the following steps that the positions of a first supporting pile group and a second supporting pile group are lofted; a first support pile and a second support pile are constructed at the position of the first support pile group, and a third support pile is arranged at the position of the second support pile group; a first top beam is constructed on the pile top of the first supporting pile, and a second top beam is constructed on the pile top of the third supporting pile; after construction of the basement structure is completed, a backfill layer between the second support pile group and the basement structure is backfilled; inclined struts are arranged between the first support pile group and the second support pile group; a soil body between the first supporting pile group and the second supporting pile group is excavated, and after the soil body is excavated to the top elevation of the second top beam, a retaining wall is constructed, and the inclined struts are dismantled; according to the method, the existing building can be effectively protected under the conditions that the existing building is close to the foundation pit, and the difference between the elevation of the existing building and the top elevation of the foundation pit is large, and the structural safety of the existing building is guaranteed.
