A hinge assembly for rotatably coupling first and second substrates of a computing device includes first and second hinge brackets fixed to the first and second substrates, each bracket including a drive gear and a shaft. The first idler and the second idler are engaged with the drive gear. The first friction belt includes a first biasing portion biased in a first direction to press a first arcuate contact surface of the first friction belt against the first drive gear shaft and a second arcuate contact surface against the second drive gear shaft. The second friction belt includes a second biasing portion biased in a second direction to press a third arcuate contact surface of the second friction belt against the first drive gear shaft and a fourth arcuate contact surface against the second drive gear shaft.
