The invention provides a method for preparing silica gel by carbonating steel slag through a liquid method, and belongs to the field of building materials. The method comprises the following steps: firstly, crushing and grinding steel slag blocks, dispersing the ground steel slag blocks in water to form mixed slurry, continuously introducing industrial waste gas containing carbon dioxide into the mixed slurry, and carrying out carbonization reaction on the carbon dioxide contained in the industrial waste gas and the steel slag micro powder in the process; then, the carbonized steel slag micro powder is dried and then subjected to secondary grinding, the ground steel slag micro powder is mixed into water to be evenly mixed, ultrasonic dispersion treatment is conducted, and a silica gel solution is obtained. The steel slag micro powder is subjected to carbonization reaction in an aqueous solution, and the activity of calcium carbonate and silicon dioxide generated through carbonization is higher; the raw materials for preparing the silica gel are mainly industrial solid waste and industrial flue gas, waste resources generated in industrial production are optimized and recycled, waste accumulation and pollutant emission are reduced, the cementing material with excellent performance can be prepared, and the silica gel has the advantages of being low in cost, low in carbon and environmentally friendly in preparation method.
