Method for producing lightweight concrete mixtures using lightweight aggregates
The invention provides a method for producing a lightweight concrete mixture using a lightweight aggregate, the method comprising at least two stages of mixing processes in which first a suspended mixture comprising a binder composition is prepared by high speed stirring of cement or geopolymer and water, the suspended mixture is then mixed with a component comprising lightweight aggregate by low-speed stirring. The invention also encompasses correspondingly produced lightweight concrete and lightweight concrete mixtures. The binder composition candidates comprise, for example:-60 to 80% by weight of fine ground slag sand cement, 10 to 60% by weight of fly ash; -2 to 25% by weight of alkali metal hydroxide/alkali metal silicate, 75 to 98% by weight of fine ground slag sand; -2 to 20% by weight of alkali metal hydroxide/alkali metal silicate, 60 to 78% by weight of fine ground slag sand; -20 to 38 wt% of fly ash cement, 30 to 50 kg/m of micro silica cement (in the lightweight concrete mixture), 10 to 60 wt% of rice husk fly ash cement, 1 to 5 wt% of caustic calcined CaO/MgO.
