METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A CURVED ELECTROCHROMIC DEVICE
A method of making a curved electrochromic device by depositing a solution-based material directly onto a curved surface is disclosed. The curved electrochromic device is prepared by spraying a first curved conductive substrate with a solution of one or more (cathodic) inorganic or organic metal precursors, the coated substrate is then exposed to near infrared radiation, UV radiation, or ozone to convert the one or more (cathodic) inorganic or organometallic precursors to a (cathodic) electrochromic layer. The second complementary conductive curved substrate is coated with a second (anodic) electrochromic layer. An electrolyte layer is incorporated between the first electrochromic layer and the second electrochromic layer, sealing the substrates together to form a curved electrochromic device. The method is particularly useful for curved electrochromic devices that employ curved tempered glass or thermally reinforced glass.
