The invention relates to a locking device for a front cover of a motor vehicle, comprising: a two-stroke lock (2) having a first locking element (3) and a second locking element (4) for mechanically locking the front cover in a closed position and a pre-locking position, the locking elements being unlockable by two separate strokes of an unlocking element (5); an actuator (7) coupled to the unlocking element for moving the unlocking element in order to unlock the locking elements (3, 4); a drive motor (9) for driving the actuator; a first controller (19) and a second controller (20) for individually controlling the drive motors; a switching element (18) for switching from a first controller, by means of which the drive motor can be actuated to move the actuator in order to obtain a first stroke, to a second controller, by means of which the drive motor can be actuated to move the actuator in order to obtain a second stroke, and vice versa, the switching element can be controlled for switching depending on the position of the actuator.
