Disclosed herein is a material comprising: a premixed paste comprising: one or more barium cement capable of performing a hydration reaction with water to form a hydrogel; and a non-aqueous liquid carrier that is hydrophilic and capable of undergoing exchange with the aqueous-based liquid when the premix paste is exposed to an environment in which the aqueous-based liquid is present. Uses of the materials disclosed herein are also disclosed.
