The invention discloses an assembly type emergency retaining device and a construction method thereof, the assembly type emergency retaining device comprises a plurality of retaining assembling units which are assembled in a mutually matched mode, hook parts in opposite directions are arranged on the two outer sides of each retaining assembling unit in the opposite direction, and every two adjacent retaining assembling units in the left-right direction are buckled through the corresponding hook parts; a plurality of butt joint parts are arranged at the top and the bottom of each retaining assembly unit, and every two adjacent retaining assembly units in the vertical direction are in butt joint through the butt joint parts in a matched mode; according to the length and the width of a side slope, a plurality of supporting and retaining assembly units are spliced into an integral supporting and retaining device in a butt joint mode, backfilling and compacting are conducted through concrete or site waste residues or slope-cut earth and rocks, and an integral supporting and retaining structure stable slope toe is formed; and a spiral recyclable anchor rod can be additionally arranged subsequently according to requirements, so that the retaining structure is further stabilized, and the protection effect is enhanced.
