The invention discloses a pickup truck compartment control system and method. The pickup truck compartment control system comprises a first camera, a roller shutter door driving device, a compartment illuminating lamp and a controller. The first camera is arranged at the position of a vehicle C column, is in signal connection with the controller, and is used for collecting face features and action postures of operators around a cargo compartment; the controller is further in signal connection with the roller shutter door driving device and the cargo compartment illuminating lamp, and when the face features conform to a preset identity (ID) and the action posture is recognized to be the action of opening or closing the cargo compartment roller shutter door, the controller controls the roller shutter door driving device to drive the cargo compartment roller shutter door to be opened or closed according to the set opening degree. And the cargo compartment illuminating lamp is correspondingly controlled to be turned on or turned off. The intelligent pickup truck can be used intelligently and conveniently.
