The invention relates to the technical field of assembly type buildings, in particular to an assembly type steel structure and a building method thereof.The assembly type steel structure comprises a base plate, a top plate and a plurality of connecting assemblies, each connecting assembly comprises a connecting column, a limiting rod, a springback unit, a rotating rod and a clamping block, the connecting columns are placed between the base plate and the top plate, the base plate is provided with a groove, and the connecting columns are provided with limiting holes; one part of the limiting rod is pulled out of the groove, the connecting columns are inserted into the groove, the springback units enable the connecting columns to springback to enter the limiting holes, then the top plate is lifted and moved to the position above the connecting columns through the lifting machine, the clamping blocks are aligned with the clamping grooves, the top plate is moved downwards, the clamping blocks enter the clamping grooves and reach the groove bodies, at the moment, the lifting machine is closed and moved away, and a worker pulls the rotating rod to rotate. The clamping block rotates in the groove body and is not matched with the clamping groove in the same vertical line, so that the clamping block cannot be separated from the clamping groove and the groove body, construction of the steel structure is completed, limiting and locking are conducted through the limiting rod and the clamping block, and the construction stability is improved.
