The invention discloses an embankment structure and a construction method thereof. The embankment structure comprises an embankment front side slope and an embankment rear side slope, and the embankment front side slope and the embankment rear side slope are arranged at the river bank mud surface line and obliquely extend towards each other; the wave wall is arranged between the embankment front side slope and the embankment rear side slope, the embankment front side slope and the embankment rear side slope are located on the upstream portion and the downstream portion of the wave wall respectively, and the wave wall, the embankment front side slope, the embankment rear side slope and the river bank mud surface line define a filling space suitable for being filled with embankment backfill soil; wherein the wave wall is provided with a bottom plate extending between the embankment front side slope and the embankment rear side slope, an upstream wall body and a downstream wall body which extend in the height direction are formed on the side, away from the filling space, of the bottom plate, the embankment front side slope is connected with the bottom of the upstream wall body, and the embankment rear side slope is connected with the bottom of the downstream wall body. According to the embankment structure, the usage amount of embankment backfill soil and the length of the embankment front side slope and the embankment rear side slope can be reduced, materials are saved, and the construction efficiency is improved.
