A covering device (1) for a ditch (2), comprising:-a longitudinal groove (3) extending in a longitudinal direction (X1) of the device, the groove (3) being formed at an upper side (11) of the device (1); and-a first channel (4) for guiding water flowing into the groove (3) towards a lower side (12) of the covering device (1), the first channel (4) extending between an upper end (41) of the first channel (4) connected to the longitudinal groove (3) and a lower end (42) of the first channel (4). The covering device (1) is provided with a guide plate (5) which is opposite to the lower end (42) of the first channel (4) and extends away from the lower end (42) of the first channel (4), and when splashing water is oriented towards the first channel (4) from the lower side of the covering device (1), the guide plate (5) forms an obstacle (5) blocking the splashing water from passing towards the first channel.
