The magnesium phosphate cement composite material is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 15-90 parts of sulfur concentrate tailings, 285-210 parts of dead burned MgO and 100 parts of phosphate, the sulfur concentrate tailings account for 5-40% of the total mass of the sulfur concentrate tailings and the dead burned MgO, and the dosage of a retarder accounts for 5-10% of the total mass of MgO and phosphate. According to the prepared magnesium phosphate cement composite material containing the sulfur concentrate tailings, due to the micro-aggregate effect of the sulfur concentrate tailings which are long in setting time, high in fluidity, good in construction performance and high in specific surface area, and components in the sulfur concentrate tailings participate in a hydration reaction to generate a new crystalline or gelatinous hydration product, magnesium phosphate cement is endowed with excellent strength, the 1d compressive strength reaches 37 MPa, and the magnesium phosphate cement has the good comprehensive performance. The 7d compressive strength reaches 66MPa, and the 28d compressive strength reaches 76MPa.
