The invention provides an automatic sand flushing method for a sediment-laden reservoir. The automatic sand flushing method is characterized by comprising the following steps: (1) collecting hydrological data of a main stream of the reservoir over the years and basic parameters of the reservoir; (2) a processing calculation module carries out deposition form discrimination calculation on the basic information acquired in the step (1); (3) setting a deposition amount threshold value; and (4) starting a normalized sand flushing task through an automatic gate control system to realize automatic sand flushing. The problem of siltation of a sediment-laden reservoir is effectively solved, and the problem of serious siltation of the reservoir is effectively solved by providing a sand flushing mode combining normalized sand flushing and traceable sand flushing. Refined management of reservoir sand flushing is achieved, the deposition condition is obtained through infrared induction and a computer algorithm, sand flushing work is carried out after a water regimen module is connected, the work can be carried out according to data, the problem that water resources are wasted due to blind sand flushing is solved, deposition early warning is provided for a dam, and safe and stable operation of a building is ensured.
