The invention relates to the technical field of ceramic powder, in particular to ceramic powder for plasma spraying and a method for preparing a ceramic coating through plasma spraying. The ceramic powder for plasma spraying comprises A2Hf2O7 and B2 (Zr < x > Ce < 1-x >) 2O7, wherein A is selected from at least one of Y, Ga, Gd and La; b is selected from at least one of Ga, La, Pr, Nd, Sm and Yb, and x is more than or equal to 0 and less than 1. After the ceramic powder provided by the invention is subjected to plasma spraying, a compact ceramic coating can be formed on the surface of a base material, so that the wear resistance, corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance of the base material are improved; and the coating has strong binding force with the base material, and is not easy to fall off from the surface of the base material.
