The invention discloses an overhanging scaffold for curtain wall installation and a construction method. The overhanging scaffold comprises an overhanging base, a scaffold body, a wall connecting assembly, a pushing assembly and a limiting assembly. The cantilever base is fixedly connected with a building body and extends out of the building body; the scaffold body is arranged on the overhanging base in a sliding mode, and the sliding direction can face or deviate from a building body; the wall connecting assembly is connected between the scaffold body and a building body, and the length of the portion, stretching out of the building body, of the wall connecting assembly can be adjusted. The pushing assembly is used for driving the scaffold body to slide on the cantilever base so as to adjust the distance between the scaffold body and a building body. The limiting assembly is used for limiting the scaffold body from sliding on the cantilever base. According to the scaffold, the distance between the scaffold body and the outer side of a building body can be conveniently adjusted, so that different operation space requirements are met, scaffold disassembling and building work is greatly reduced, and the overall construction efficiency is improved.
