The invention discloses a method for adjusting the height of a steel rail. The method comprises the following steps: acquiring measured values of the height of the steel rail, the height of a head, the height of a waist and the height of legs; setting standard values of steel rail height, head height, waist height and leg height; judging whether the deviation value between the steel rail height measured value and the standard value is greater than the steel rail height control deviation or not to determine whether the steel rail height needs to be adjusted or not; and adjusting each specification item according to the deviation value between the measured values of the head height and the leg height and the standard value until all the specification items are controlled within the allowable deviation range. Based on adjustment experience extraction and integration of an adjustment experience database, an independent steel rail height specification adjustment calculation method is formed, and real-time adjustment and deviation correction are performed on the abnormal state of the online steel rail height specification, so that the steel rail height specification is always stabilized within an internal control standard; the problems of large rail height fluctuation and accidental errors of manual calculation are solved, and meanwhile the normalization of steel rolling adjustment is improved.
