The preparation method of the aluminum nitride powder comprises the following steps: dispersing lactose and aluminum oxide in deionized water to obtain a mixed solution; stirring and heating the mixed solution to obtain jelly; heating the jelly, and carrying out foaming and curing processes on the jelly to obtain a reaction precursor; and sequentially carrying out carbon thermal reduction nitridation treatment in a nitrogen atmosphere and decarburization treatment in an air atmosphere on the reaction precursor to obtain the aluminum nitride powder. The preparation method of the aluminum nitride powder is simple in process, and the prepared aluminum nitride powder is high in quality.
